Sounding Motion explore musical heritage from around Europe and the movement that it has inspired.

Resident composer Benjamin Graves has created two works along side choreographers Imogen Bland and Jocelyn Todd. Through a satirical exploration of British folksong Graves and Bland have created Perfect Straits, an exposé of contemporary British culture from Jeremy Kyle to drinking tea; Graves’ and Todd’s new work focuses on the movements made by the musicians as they perform, transforming them into facets of the imagination.

Brussels born Thierry de Mey’s (1956 - ) primary compositional concern is the movement inherent in music. Silence must be! for solo percussion sees performer turn conductor and beat time to the rhythm of her own heart.

Tigran Mansurian (1939 - ), born in Beirut, uses Armenian folk melody to create a common man’s perception of the crucifiction in Three Taghs.
